Bridport Vermont Jan 8, 2018

Some inspiration comes from a fleeting glance.

Occasionally, I get a good reference photo from the window of my truck.

Every once in a happy while, those two things happen at that same time.

    Once a Sto employee…
    I see the Sto bucket.
I also see a craftsman/artist doing what he loves.
So nice to see that with the hordes of people who hate their work, or their co-workers, or the commute or all three.
    Happy holidays.
    Kind regards,
    Rob

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Indeed, That bucket means a lot to me. I risked missing my plane home from Germany to run back to the plant and get this. Circa 1996. I saw them (Sample Pails) during the plant tour and kept thinking…”I could use that for something.” I’ve been using it ever since. Tx Rob!

  • Susan Roberts says:

Yes, I too feel the happiness of doing what you love in that video. It put me back on track to focus on what makes you happy! Nice painting!

  • Diana Hamilton says:

Even though I live near Burlington now, this is what I see in my mind when I think of my childhood and of my home state! The distance and space, the color… I love this painting!

  • June Thompson says:

Only in Vermont one time on a summers vacation as a young girl from Ohio ! Loved it’s rustic beauty then and still do ! Later married and we were transferred several times ending up in Mobile . Quite a different scene for sure . Now 85 and miss all the seasons changes so much ! Though we did have some snow in Nov. Love your paintings !

  • Betsy Lenora says:

Ohhhhh…..I want to get this for the wall in my mother’s room at her long care facility in Indiana. She is from VT – her ancestors are from VT. Tho she has dementia, she still might enjoy the view. Also, let me know when it becomes available as cards.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks very much Lenora, your print is shipping today. This long horizontal format is trickier for cards. I dont have the infrastructure to produce them, yet. I am liking the format so as I paint more of them I’ll probably do cards at some point as well.

  • Sandra Welch says:

Do you register for EACH auction or is it a one time registery?
It is probably in there somewhere but couldn’t find. THANK YOU

    • Peter Huntoon says:

You only need to register once Sandra to bid then you are good for all auctions. If you have trouble bidding let me know. Sometimes when passwords are lost etc we have to delete your user info and start over due to computer cache snafus. 802-235-2328. Tx!

  • Randy Cresci says:

I love the panoramic photograph you took looking through your windshield.
Your work of art really brought out the beautful colors that Vermont proudly displays throughout all the seasons. Thank you for sharing your artwork with us. Randy & Margie Cresci
I really look forward to seeing your

  • Greg WInterhalter says:

Very nice painting today Peter! I am really enjoying the dynamics of your use of color. Are all of these paintings done in oil paint? Or are some executed in acrylic? I am really enjoying your posts!

    • Peter Huntoon says:

The last couple of years have been mostly oils Greg, with a few watermedia. (watercolor/gouache) No acrylic. I find it dries much too fast for my approach, even the open versions. I gave them a good solid try for while and they just weren’t for me.

  • Douglas Cook says:

    Nice.

  • Jeff Adams says:

Nice work again, Peter! My friends and family out here in NW Ohio enjoy my frequent sharing of one of your weekly renditions. I find a lot of folks that have a trip to New England on their bucket lists and your paintings bring those days closer! Your remarks and videos (like this one) are a nice glimpse into the artist’s mind and eye! Thanks again! Whether you realize it or not, (and all these posted comments confirm it), your work and the sharing of it, are a ministry to hearts and souls!

    • Peter Huntoon says:

That’s very nice Jeff, I guess it’s a win-win…the very best deal we can make. It’s quite humbling to have so much support.

  • Mary Bride says:

Hi Peter, We love your PBS presentations! The inside look as to how your beautiful paintings come to be is delightful! Thank you for sharing your insights!

  • Chris Thrane says:

Once again you got it Peter! Driving 22-A for over thirty years I can see what you have captured on your canvas. Our state is truly blessed to have people like you to put these images into a time capsule.
    Well done!

  • Brian Blaine says:

I suspect it was far from happy chance that you found today’s inspirational subject, but rather that you are usually alert to possible greater manifestations in the everyday things in life.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

As a fellow artist (and poet) I’m sure you know Brian, it’s hard to turn it off once we’ve learned how to open the spigot. And why would we want to?

  • Maureen Wallace says:

Peter, I so enjoy watching your videos. Could you tell me the name and type of that large chisel brush that you start your watermedia paintings with , please.

  • cynthia adams says:

Late reply…started yesterday but…. this art piece is pristine…beautiful capture of the entire landscape/village.. Thank you for the video; Neat how you sketched by having the umbrella on your truck. 🙂 Cynthia
