Winter Sunset Feb 5, 2018
They call the stunning moments at days end “Golden Hour.”
Nature sure can put on a show.
“A kind of golden hour one remembers for a lifetime… everything was touched by magic.” Margaret Bourke-White
“The sun shall not rise or set without my notice, and thanks.” Winslow Homer

That is gorgeous as always. The beautiful moment of sunset captured perfectly. Stunning
Thanks Karen!
You captured it again! Great job Peter!
Thanks Chris!
The warm golden light at the end of the day is the ultimate show of God’s pallet. To catch that moment of splendor is a paint-walk on the intense side! You have successfully shown it here, Peter. Kudos!
Thanks Patricia!
Beautiful, beautiful. And the quotes, too!
Thanks Charlotte!
Beautiful. I enjoy all of your work. So glad I was watching Antiques Roadshow when they did a promo for your show. Seeing your talent when you paint inspired me to go to a “Sip and Paint” class.
Thanks Donna, I take a sip from time to time when I paint, too.
Lovely, soothing scene
Thanks Susan!
Such beautiful paintings❤️
Thanks Mary!
A beauty of a painting. I look forward to Mondays to see your new work!
Thanks Maureen!
Beautiful, and thank you for sharing Winslow Homer’s quote. My thoughts exactly. Where was this lovely sunset?
Thanks Judy, this is here where I live in Middletown Springs, just south of town on Rt 133.
This is lovely Peter . I get these gorgeous sun sets from my deck in Low Hampton . up on a hill.
view is terrific from here , you should try it sometime.
Thanks for the invite Jacquelyn!
Beautiful picture. One of my fondest childhood memories were my parents taking us to Vermont n a summer vacation, and was in awe how beautiful the mountains were!! The smell of Vermint s wonderful from all the pines up there. Living on Long Island, NY we do not get to see such gorgeous mountains like Vermont. We love visiting your state ❤️
Thanks Judy!
I love how you have gently mirrored the sunset sky with subtle violets in mid-ground trees, and with yellow-tan tones of ochre in the bales of hay. Nor can I fail to mention and admire that glowing most-distant mountain that draws my eye into the depths of the landscape, and my soul into deep introspection.
Thanks Brian! That distant mountain had to be just right. It took a couple of tries but I think I got it. 🙂
Beauty and the Bales…. wonderful colors and inclusion of multiple shapes/detail. Winter is awaiting to burst w/ new growth.
Thanks Cynthia!
Hi Peter, in January we had only a few hours sunshine in Duisburg. We missed sunsets like yours. But in hard times we always we are lucky to know your blog “A Day in Vermont” and so the sunshine returns in our hearts.
Thanks Doris, we are happy to share our sunsets with you!
Oh, my last comment is not correct.
Sorry, but I think you understand my intention.
I love the quotes about the warm glow of the sunset. It happens no matter where you see the sun setting. Sometimes there is a warm glow in the morning here in south Florida, too.
Thanks Deanie!
Just breathtaking!! Snow and sunsets! Wow
Thanks Barbara!
