Angel Wings Aug 11, 2014

A pair of butterflies float on the warm summer air.

Dancing among the garden colors.

Without a sound they alight on a flower with weightless grace.

Where did they come from?

Where will they go?

On angel wings.

” Ever felt an angel’s breath in the gentle breeze? A teardrop in the falling rain? Hear a whisper amongst the rustle of leaves? Or been kissed by a lone snowflake? Nature is an angel’s favorite hiding place.”

And the Winner is….

Congratulations to our free print winner for August, Janet Chandler of Manchester, Vt.

Janet chose October Road and had this to say about Vermont..

“I love Vermont because there is a peacefulness about living a long side the mountains, valleys and rivers. Community is key to our lifestyle here and this makes our lives so rich and full of family and friends.”

What a great picture! How on earth did you get the butterflies to pose that long? Only for you!

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Funny. It reminds me of the story my photographer friend likes to tell about the photo he took of a Grizzly standing up…and the oft asked question…how did you get him to stand up?

If I can bring an occasional breath of fresh (Vermont) air into your week, I couldn’t be happier. Thanks Dhyan

Hi Peter! I love that you captured the butterfly in the photo…and then beautifully brought the whole image to life with your creativity. It was neat to see the completed work at Art in the Park. Glad that I caught you!

this might have been painted from my own garden, full of cone flowers and butterflies right now. Your work is magical:)))
Thanks again for sharing each of your masterpieces with us.

It always amazing to me to find great subjects in my own back yard. Thanks to my wife for planting a garden. Otherwise I’d be painting tumbleweeds.

    Hello Peter,
Condolences on the loss of your father. I have lost a sister today to a terrible disease.
Those butterflies are just flying free and they are beautiful. This is so beautiful knowing how free my sister is today from her pain.
Thank you for having so many beautiful words in your paintings. You always seem to be appropriately timed.
Prayers and Blessings to your family…

Oh Pete this is so beautiful! I’m just crazy about it!! Life is so mysterious… Last month my friends and I created a garden to celebrate the life of a good friend we lost one year ago. A tree and various flowers were donated. Somehow I had never noticed these gorgeous flowers before but upon arrival I thought “well I’ll put this one on the left side since she was left handed and these flowers are so lovely (like her)”. The garden came out great and I started to think about those flowers on the left. I decided to get some for my yard so I’d have a little reminder of her in my garden. Now of course I have been noticing these flowers everywhere and it makes me so happy. So when Dean and I came to visit you at Art in the Park. I just had to smile at this new piece! And the title?? Lol! You may think you knew why you were painting what you were painting and you may think you know why you named it what you did.. but life is full of mystery isn’t it? Beautiful mystery. Looking forward to seeing you in October!

  • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks for all the support Kim, great to see you guys at Art in the Park. Art does have a mysterious way of connecting us!

I received this email and it honestly took my breathe away. I had just heard the tragic news of our loss of actor Robin Williams. When I saw this painting reminded of the scene in Patch Adams when his love interest returned to him as a butterfly. ” Angel wings ” is such a fitting name. Thank you Peter for sharing your talent.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thank you for sharing Karen, perhaps we have all had an experience where nature has helped us thorough difficult situations. It’s nice to know our loved ones are close.
