Burlington Vermont Apr 20, 2015
Down on Main Street.
Looking straight down Main to Lake Champlain and across to the Adirondacks.
It’s been a favorite long distance view, for a very long time, and it’s about time I painted it.

Dear Peter
I’ve yet to see this view but will look it up when I get a chance. Finally moved here about 10 days ago and am surrounded by boxes. I live in Chittenden and am getting all the comforts of home sit up,cable, phone etc. be glad when I can see some off the places you paint!
Olivia
Welcome HOME Olivia!
When I lived in Burlington this was one of my favorite views. Nice!
Thanks Dee!
You captured it perfectly!!!
Thank you Susan!
This painting captures for me a lot of the real “feeling” of the city of Burlington. One can tell it’s not a big city, but nonetheless an active one. Traffic up and down Main Street and approaching at the intersection midway counterbalances a feeling of tranquility lent to the scene by the downhill view of the lake. Finally, I couldn’t help but notice the green “Vermont” license plate on the vehicle parked on the right. It’s often these little details that capture a viewer and give soul to a work of art. Great job!
Always a great artistic analysis Brian, thank you very much!
I know that view! Lovely.
Thanks David!
I know that spot. I wish I were there. I hate Florida!
We wish you were here too Wendy! 🙂
Peter, Right next to where you shot this picture is the Edmunds school where my wife has taught for over twenty years! Such a wonderful view and once again you captured it! Outstanding job.
Thanks again Chris, much appreciated!
Not only do your paintings touch a strong emotional chord, but the extra quotes attached act like harmony to the image!
Thanks very much Betsy, some things just seem to go together, and I do love harmony of all flavors!
Love it, know it and can feel it! So cool, thanks Peter.
You bet Tim, thank you!
Was born in Burlington in 1940..I danced at the Memorial A..and remember the Golden Glove meets ..once a year..I miss my hometown..Want to head back..soon..The good Lord willing
THIS is GREAT!!!. Fond memories of the 1960s when the USN Training Center was at the foot of this street and I was training officer for the CB Unit and then CO on the surface division. Many good friends resulted from that time: Ed Stickney, Bob Funk, Jim Miller, Jim Jeffords, Hugh Gates, HMC Browne, Hunter brothers, Alphonse Johnson, and Ted Reihle. Francis Colburn lived near where this was painted, too.NOTHING like VERMONT, even its BIG city!!!
