Crowley Cheese Sep 1, 2014
It seems like only yesterday when mom would load us in the car for a ride out to Crowley Cheese.
Whey over in Healdville, 40 years is just a small slice of the wheel.
Crowley has been producing the same delicious cheese recipe for 190 years.
The old factory was looking sharp to pose for my painting last week.
Say cheese.

You are such a great painter. It never a curd to me that you also have great wit! A true Vermonter you are.
Born and raised Martha, thanks very much!
Cheese whiz, it looks like a grate painting!
I knew I would get a few good return shots on this one. Thanks Betsy!
Nice job milking the humor! Lovely painting…with a little reminiscing and history mixed in.
Thank you Tracy, yes, the history alone of Crowley is impressive…real Vermont!
Not only an artist but a comedian, also! I enjoyed seeing you at the Rutland Arts in the Park event and continue to look for paintings such as this one that bring back so many memories. My father was raised up on Sugar Hill, not too far from Healdville. Thanks for another wonderful painting!
LOVE the painting and LOVE the play on words!
Thanks for the support Victoria!
I won’t quit my day job (painting) to become a stand up, one thing just led to another on this post. Just like when a painting takes a direction…gotta go with it. Thanks Don, hope to see you again at the October Art in the Park!
Peter, i love you painting , Got one for my daughter several years ago for a wedding gift. At art in the park IT always amazes me what you come up with, a true vermonter, for the world to share.
thanks for your insight.
My pleasure Noreen, thanks very much!
I always knew we’d made to Vermont for our summer vacation when I saw the Crowley Cheese signs along the road. Happy Labor Day.
And to you Brian, as I am sure you know all too well, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Thanks!
One of my wife’s earliest memories of Vermont was while vacationing here at Lake Rescue in Ludlow (early 1960’s), the family visited Crowley’s. She recalls the Mrs. scolding Mr. Crowley, calling him “Flannel Head!” She’s never forgotten it! Boy, wouldn’t I love to give her your original watercolor as a gift!
Hi Ron and thanks very much for sharing a good Vermont story! Good luck in the auction too!
You capture the moments in time for many memories. Particularly going to Crowley Cheese back in the early 1960’s TP pick up the huge wheels of cheese for our gift shop. Thanks for the memory.
Thanks Jerilyn, many of us have similar memories and art seems to have the magical ability to connect us to them, and each other.
