Feast and Filed Jul 31, 2017
A while back someone suggested I check out the Feast and Field Farmers Market in Barnard.
I found myself there last week with a group of Artistree artists.
It’s a beautiful location and it didn’t take long to find a good spot to paint.
That’s a Farmall in the foreground, and an International off in the distance.
A gorgeous pair of willing models.

Thanks Leah!
Great painting.
Thanks Melody!
My wife has the exact tractor! A 57 IH Farmall Super A. Hilled the potatoes with it a few days ago. Nice tractor but a touchy accelerator.
Thanks John!
Very nice!
Thanks Susan!
This pictures would make many older
Iowa farmers smile !
Thanks Debra!
LOVE the red tractors! Thank you for sharing your homey painting! 🙂
Thanks Melodie!
Like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat you’ve so masterfully created the illusion of detail, while creating a very abstract rendition of two fine old tractors. Well done!
Thanks Brian, I had to really resist what I “know”, in order to paint what I saw, on this one.
Nice true Vermont scene ! I like your words…” gorgeous pair of willing models…” I read a quote that I think is befitting. “Old tractors are like old friends….you don’t give them up because they are slow…” THANK YOU for another nice Monday. Cynthia
Great quote Cynthia, thank you!
This is so fun, reminds me of the farm I lived on as a small child in Northern Minnesota. Thanks so much again for making my Monday
My pleasure Karen, thanks!
Beautiful work Peter! A wonderful tribute to two American Made (Rock Island, Illinois) work horses.
Thanks Randy, you can really see and “sense” the authentic integrity in these machines.
RealVErmont in living color. Thanks for capturing the essence of our culture, farms, milk, cheese, meat and veggies with all the equipment that all entails, not to mention the people:)))
Thanks Sukie!
Peter: This painting expresses for me our calling to culture. The natural world is a natural mess, but it is fraught with potential for good. Our job is to interact with it in such a way as to coax its natural goodness to the surface and shape it into forms we can use. The tractors sitting amid the grass, with a bale of hay alongside, provides a lesson in doing culture right. Respect the wildness and beauty of the creation. Use tools to make good things. Share the benefits and blessings with others. This painting makes a statement not only about culture and the environment, but about your work and our wonderful state. Blessings.
Thank you T.M.!
