Fishing is an enjoyable pastime for some.
Then there’s the professional.
Patient, focused, dedicated and determined.
Failure is not an option.
I watched this Heron for well over an hour as darkness fell over Lake Champlain
It barely moved.
That made two of us.

I so enjoy your paintings Peter and wonder if you have any paintings/prints of Lake Bomoseen?
Thanks Susan, I sure do, please see this link and just let me know if I can help! https://www.peterhuntoon.com/?s=bomoseen&s_cs=true
Beautiful! Thanks for bringing us to this spot!
It was a good spot indeed Susan, thank you!
So totally calm and beautiful. Thank you, Peter
It was a perfect evening Charlotte, and I was absolutely enthralled by this beautiful bird and his/her patience. We can learn much.
Oh, Peter…you’ve created ZEN with this painting….LOVE it….The colors, the composition….simply the ENERGY of ZEN! This one may have to make its way to my meditation room.
Go gently…
Victoria
A calm stillness permeated the scene Victoria, and for a few wonderful minutes I was part of it. The tai-chi like movements of the heron seemed to subtly repeat in the rippling water and passing clouds. Nature is amazing. Thank you Victoria!
Another perfect painting and one I would love to own. Again the scene and choice of colors are great!!!
Thank you Joan, I was painting the painting in my head as I watched quietly for so long. When you can do that it’s as good as done.
Serenity..
Thanks Theresa!
The heron is one of my favorites and your interpretation and colors are wonderful
Thanks Chris!
And you’re a poet too!
I wouldn’t try to earn a living on it alone, but I enjoy pairing a few words with my paintings. Like painting, some efforts work better than others. Thanks Susan!
Blue Heron is my totem animal and very dear to my heart.. the first glimpse of your painting was like cupids arrow right into my heart.. thank you for doing this one!!
That’s a nice vivid compliment. Thank you Marie!
Totally amazing once again!
Aw shucks Chris, thanks!
My grown-up nephew and his friend were on a tethered raft on Lake Bomoseen yesterday when they saw a heron fly over several times. Only after they left the raft did they realize why he was flying over. He was waiting for them to get off of the raft so that he could land on his favorite fishing site. He spends a lot of time on this raft, his favorite perch.
Apparently they do have their favorite fishing haunts, like some of us. When I used to fish it was a little disappointment to go to your favorite spot and find someone already there, so I know how it felt. Thanks Pat!
What a beautiful painting with the lake and mountains in the background. Such beautiful color!
Thank you Jean!
Magnificently Beautiful & Serene!
Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Margaret
It takes two to share. Thanks Margaret!
Painting is a pleasurable pastime for some. Then there is the professional. Patient, focused, dedicated and determined. Definitely no failure here! Peaceful and beautiful.
Nice, thanks Brian!
What THEY said!!!
Nice too, Betsy, thanks!
Peter, when I first saw your painting this morning it took my breath to a different level. I LOVE THIS! Am going to forward it to my son as a card. Everything about it is just wondrous….thank you.. Cynthia
My pleasure Cynthia, so glad you like it!
Decent photo. Awesome painting!
Thanks very much Steve. As I think Van Gogh said, “One starts by trying to copy nature (photo) and fails. One ends by calmly creating from one’s own palette, nature agrees, and follows.”
This one has it all. Mountains, water, CLOUDS, fir trees and a sunset. Beautiful !
Thanks Lori, much appreciated!
I grew up on Lake Champlain, when I was young there was a Heron Rookery at the mouth of the Winooski. THis brought me back in time. Thank you!
I grew up on Lake Champlain, when I was young there was a Heron Rookery at the mouth of the Winooski. You caught the light and mood perfectly. Thank you!
Thank you Mary Jane, for both comments. It was a magical evening spent watching nature unfold gracefully. I knew it would make for a good painting.
I listen to the music that will fit to all yout nice paintings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MGS1vwKMh4. Its “The Cinematic orchestra” and this is called “To Build a Home”. As beautiful, peaceful and even dramatic as your paintings. Pure inspiration. Greetings from the old Germany!
And this masterpiece of music will be a good companion to “Jetty Master”. This is called “The First Light” and is performed by “The Cinematic Orchestra”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PURIZRhHyE4
