Merck Forest Fall Nov 2, 2015
It’s easy to fall in love with color.
Lately I’ve been head over heels.
“Merck Forest Fall” captures one of the magnificent views I recently encountered at Merck Forest in Rupert, Vermont.
It was love at first sight in every direction.

Speaking of Love…
Love, happiness, and creative joy are universal human capacities, easily communicated with a sincere smile.
And that’s all we needed last week in my studio.
It’s a good thing because I don’t speak Japanese.
The Rutland Ishidoriya Student Exchange (RISE) is a program that gives students in Rutland City, Vermont the opportunity to experience and immerse themselves in a cultural and educational exchange program with students in our sister city of Hanamaki (Formerly Ishidoriya), Japan. The relationship between Rutland City and Hanamaki was initiated in 1986; in this, our twenty-ninth year of this continued relationship, students from Rutland traveled to Japan at the end of June, 2015 and the Japanese delegates visit at the end of October, 2015. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the other country and culture while forging life-long relationships.

Just seeing your latest painting makes me want to walk every inch of Vermont. Yes, NJ is beautiful too but there is something so appealing about the mountains and the vast sky above them. Thank you for sharing your talent with so many.
My pleasure Beth, thank you. The more I explore Vermont (and I have been at it all of my 53 years) the more I understand and accept that I could never see it all. But I can appreciate and honor, through art, everything that I do.
Looks like the road to oue daughter’s home. Doesn’t get anymore special than this.
Thanks Julia!
I love the painting “From Here to Eternity”. It captures my imagination with it’s beauty and makes me wonder, “Where does that road lead to”? The lure of Vermont to me is to travel the unbeaten paths and roads. Thanks again for taking me back to Vermont for the moment.
Agreed Randy, exploring our back roads and “unbeaten paths” is good stuff for the spirit and soul. Thanks!
Ah, the fleeting colors of October! Beautiful renditions! You have mastered the skill of realistically capturing the reds and yellows. I have seen paintings where sunlit trees tricked the artists into thinking the colors are brighter and more pure than they are, with less that spectacular results.
I wish I could stop time Brian, and if I could, it would be in October. Thanks for your kind words. Someday I’ll post my very first attempts at painting. I have learned a few things, and the most important one is that I’ll always have so much more to learn. “Beginner’s Mind” is a good place to work from, and that means leaving what we think we know at the door of every painting.
I absolutely love your paintings of rural Vermont.
They have a calming effect, reminding me of the
true beauty of Vermont. Thank you!
Thank you Lynette, much appreciated!
I love the color scheme!
Thank you Frances!
Hi Peter – Thank you for such a special afternoon! Our Japanese delegates had a wonderful experience in your studio. How neat to be able to take home a piece of Vermont that they created.
It was a pleasure to work with you Lexi this year, and of course it’s always a blast to spend time with great group of kids. It’s an honor to be one of the stops on the “Vermont Tour”!
Love this!
Thanks Jackie!
