Pawlet Vermont Oct 12, 2015

Pawlet is nestled along the Western edge of Vermont at the confluence of Route 30, Route 133, and the Mettawee River.

Chartered in 1761, it’s a beautiful town with a rich history of farming and slate. Like so many Vermont towns, community spirit abounds.

My plein air painting buddy Robert Sydorowich and I set up to paint on a recent Fall morning. We met half the town by coffee break.

Ooooooooh, love the new paintings coming out of your studio! Glad to see so many have sold.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks Betsy, the new studio was the right move. More space and light, conducive to good working habits. My daily task is to try and form better habits while breaking the bad ones. Like I said, a daily, never ending task.

  • Deanie says:

I love the Old Orchard Road. The angle of the sun in the fall casts such dramatic shadows and colors.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks very much Deanie, I think the oils did a nice job capturing that brilliant fall foliage against the sky.

  • Muriel Brown says:

When I opened up this page you took my breath away. You captured the beauty of each scene so perfectly. We spent the weekend driving around enjoying the color! And then to view your work just added to the awe and splendor of Vermont. Needless to say we want all of your gems but instead enjoy the ones we have. Every one should have a painting of yours. You are such a part of Vermont , the Maple Syrup of Vermont Art.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

I just might have to change my tag line from “Vermont Artist” to “The Maple Syrup of Vermont Art.” You are so Sweet Muriel!

  • Beth Ruberg says:

So wonderful to see Vt. This way….I love your state and your work shows it off just beautifully. Thanks for the treat.

  • I don’t know what to say……they all sing a special song to me. Thank you for this.

  • Brian Blaine says:

I especially enjoyed comparing this week’s painting to the photo image. You made a lot of artistic decisions that made a nice scene a great one—color choices, simplifications, enrichment of shadow colors, textures, and more. I hope you realize how much I appreciate what I have been able to learn each week from being able to view your work and receive your feedback on my comments. The enjoyment and the education are priceless. By the way, while I like all your paintings, I especially like the oils.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Many teachers might agree that there’s nothing better than an earnest, appreciative student. We are both learning each week Brian, and I’m happy we can share this adventure together.

  • Mary Fran says:
