A Day in Vermont

Little Averill

Auction Closed. Sold via Buy Now $800. Next Auction Monday Nov 4.

Little Averill Lake is set in the most remote corner of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

I painted here for two consecutive days under a shroud of heavy skies and cold mist, and never saw another soul.

Standing alone at my easel, a compelling conversation with Nature unfolds.

It’s hard to express such a beautiful, spiritual experience in words. That’s why I paint.

Size: 12X16 (auctioned unframed)
Medium: Oil on linen panel

Shrewsbury Day

Shrewsbury is one my favorite Vermont towns.

It feels like you’re on top of the world up there.

Invited to come paint “Shrewsbury Day” back in September, I set up under one of the big maples that surround the old Meeting House.

I use a variety of tools to create a variety of marks in my paintings Nelida. A palette knife is one of many.

No a soul stirred…God knew you didn’t need to be disturbed so you could appreciate His peek at heaven. Love Little Averill, though I’ve never been, I appreciate you taking me there Peter.

I have a special place in my heart for memories of standing on the shore of a secluded Vermont lake with a chill mist in my face and the silence of late autumn. This painting captures and distills all that such memories mean to me and more. Thank you, Peter. We are kindred spirits!

Just looking at this I imagine sitting looking out over the lake, tranquil, calm, my mind releasing all that is negative and filing with all that I’m blessed with… I love the depth and quietness this instills. Thank you for sharing your gift Peter…
