Boy of Summer
Once in a while my camera captures an action shot that simply must be painted.
Like this old dog happily leading a pack of young boys down a dirt road.
To me, that’s poetry in motion.
“A boy is Truth with dirt on its face,
Beauty with a cut on its finger,
Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair,
and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.”

Peter….
Each time I get an email of your latest piece….or news of someone who was luckily to win the drawing of one….it always makes me smile. Art is a happy medium giving many a feel good day. Thank you for always sharing!! – Jen Shepp –
Thanks Jen!
I find it amazing how the further away you view it from, the clearer it gets. A real gift!
Thanks Joan, this is one of those step back paintings for sure.
I have 3 sons and we have a photo of the 3 on bikes { although the youngest is on a tricycle} this reminds of those days ,, they grew up on Cape Cod .. and when my husband had to go to a nursing home we posted that picture in his room.. great painting as usual
Thanks Lenor!
Like Lenor mentioned above I too have three boys. I recognized them in that painting immediately. It’s everyones sons, or grandchildren, or neighbors kids and you know mischief and skinned knees might come moments later. It’s growing up with fond memories of youth that make us all smile. Your paintings do that for us Peter, a Monday morning 🙂 Thank you!
Thanks Beth!
Glad to see these boys are wearing helmets !! And I love the dog…….thx Peter !!
Thanks Connie!
Wonderful scene or boys and dog playing, enjoying the day! Hope and pray lots of boys still do that. I know I have grandsons who were never allowed out by themselves to do that…..
Thanks Carol!

Thanks Christine!
This is a very wholesome subject. Love the dog – great colors as always, and I bike – fun.
Thanks Virginia!
What a wonderful picture! Brings back so many memories of my youth when summer days were full of fun and adventure. This is one of my favorite paintings–okay, more like one of many!
Thanks Shelley!
