Consider Bardwell Farm Apr 18, 2016
The Consider Bardwell Farm in West Pawlet produces amazing award-winning cheese.
Sitting by the beautiful pond in the warm sunshine painting this on Saturday, it was easy to understand why good things happen here.
Happy cows and sheep. Happy birds. Happy farmers.
Happy artist.

Sometimes a scene makes almost a perfect composition just as it stands. This is one of them. Nice variety of colors, shapes, shadows. I can almost hear the song sparrows bursting with joyous song, and the soft “moo” of a mother cow and her calf that surely must be somewhere in a nearby field!
Agreed Brian, I did not have to make many shape changes here. And funny you should mention the natural sounds…I really noticed (and enjoyed listening) to them while painting this.
Hi Peter,
I enjoy your paintings each week and you make any scene look more memorable than the real one
I was curious about your tripod holding paint box, paper towels etc Is this something
you put together and attached a top to it? It’s possible you have already told us
Thank You Peter
I have one of your prints in my home in Colorado – “Woodstock Middle Bridge”
Yes Kathleen, the paint box on the easel in an EasyL Classic. It comes with the tripod. When I am traveling light I use it as it’s designed, with the canvas placed on the open cover just above the palette. But I really like my home-made tripod easel to paint on when possible, as you see in the photo. Rugged and completely adjustable. The paper towels are just attached with a bungie cord. Happy painting!
Love this painting. I am a watercorist, but I so appreciate your paintings. They give me inspiration. Thank you.
Thank you Liv, glad my work can inspire you. I am a long time watercolorist too, but really sinking my teeth into oils this year. Fun!
Love this! You continue to inspire me.
Thanks Susan!
Gorgeous as always…..love VT !!
Thank you Dhyan!
Very relaxing work. Thank you.
Thanks Rose!
I love the reflection in the pond.
Thanks Deanie!
Amazing amount of buildings, silos & all; wondered if the main house is brick…I HAD to look on the web site….lots of nice pics of animals, activity, history. I’d not known of the farm until seeing your painting. “Learn something every day”… Cindy
Yes Cynthia, that is brick. Gorgeous old building and farm. Thanks!
So much to see and think about in all your paintings! Congratulations once again!
Thanks very much Joan!
This painting is absolutely gorgeous. I live in Florida now but Vermont will always be my home. I miss the beauty of Vermont. Your paintings bring me tears of joy and sadness. The colors are so beautiful in this painting combined with the reflection off the water. Thank you.
Thanks so much Patty, sounds like you can take the girl out of Vermont…but not Vermont out of the girl. All the best from home!
Looking at this inspiring barn; I choose the window in the top center as my bedroom. I intend to bring up my bags, and settle in just as soon as i take a dip in the lake with the birds. Then I’ll check in, shower. and come looking for some cheese, bread, a nice bottle of wine.. perfect..! <3
I’m sure you would be welcome there Gail, you have a great imagination!
Hey!!!! I grew up on the dirt road (Bauer Road) to your left that leads up into the hills. Used to sit at that pond myself and sketch the ducks as a child. How wonderful that you found this beautiful peaceful spot. Thanks for the walk down memory lane@
Sharon
Nice place to grow up Sharon, I’ll bet you turned out really well. 🙂
Oh, what a beautiful farm. Do you know their cheese? Is it also as tasty as the look of the farm? Greetings from your cheese-loving German fan Doris
Oh yes Doris, the cheese is out of this world delicious! (And I say that knowing that there are some pretty fair cheeses in your neck of the woods too)
Can’t wait to see this painting in person! This is so quintessentially Vermont. Love the red farm house, pond, barn and outbuildings. You’ve captured a perfect spring day and thaw.
I’ll look forward to seeing you and Alen in Vermont Lori, thanks so much for bidding and winning!
