Evening Meadow Jun 6, 2016
The last light of day dances across the sky before taking a final bow and curtain call.
As the scene plays out, the Vermont landscape provides a dramatic backdrop.
On cue, the supporting actors gradually fade into a Midsummer’s Night Dream.
All the world’s a stage.
Every moment, a painting.

It’s one small way I can say thanks for your amazing support.
Our winner for June is Jennifer Quesnel of Vergennes, Vermont.
Jennifer chose “Vergennes Falls“, and had this to say…
“As a fellow Vermonter, I share your passion for the natural beauty of this state and for its quality of life. You have the unique ability to capture the very essence of what makes Vermont truly special!”
Those greens! Love it.
Thank you Steve!
Love those colors!
Thanks Susan!
Wonderful painting. Love the underpainted yellow-orange flecks peeking through the blue of the sky. Are the cattle Belted Galloway? A farm near us has a small herd.
Yes Steve, I like the warm underpainting too, made sense to let it peek through. I do believe those are Belted Galloways. Thanks!
So beautiful and peaceful. I just love it!
Thanks Margie!
Always you catch the right mood of the scene…love it!!
Thanks Dhyan!
Gorgeous
Thanks Rose!
A true work of poetry, Peter! Love the rolling hills and the colorful stripes across the sky, playing into the scene of yet another wonderful Peter Huntoon creation. Can’t imagine a better place to be a cow.
Thanks very much Lauren!
Love the late afternoon glow!
Thanks Jan!
This resembles the view on our lane (Sundog) on many evenings. So beautiful.
Not too far from there Kathy, right down the road near Parker Water Wells. Thanks!
This wonderful painting epitomizes Vermont. All your paintings are beautiful, but I love this one enough to leave my comment.
Thanks Judy, much appreciated!
The sky is still quite blue high overhead, but develops rich purples, reds, and golds as it reaches toward the horizon. Flowers and grasses that were dominated by yellow earlier in the day now begin to take on the deeper blue-greens of evening shadow. Shortly, the sun will set and the hermit thrush will sing its evening song. Finally, all too quickly, dusk will come and go, leaving meadow fireflies and mysterious rustlings in the grass to dominate the night. With a keen eye and mastery of color you have created the opening lines of a symphony for the mind and soul, and you’ve done it all with paint and brush!
Your comments are eloquent and poetic Brian, thanks very much!
Your choice of colors is perfect. The scene and scenery is gorgeous! Absolutely one of my favorites. WOW!
I was very happy with this one too, Joan. I pushed my color in a new direction and it worked. Thanks!
Love the feel of this, vibrant and gentle, so the Vermont I remember.
Thank you Cindy!
