Life in the Slow Lane Jul 6, 2015

Here in Vermont we like to roll along at our own pace.

It’s a rural luxury most of us can appreciate.

By moving slowly we get to see just a little bit more.

And here in Vermont, that’s a lot.

“For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.”

And the winner is…

Each month I draw one random Day in Vermont subscriber to win a free print as a way to say thanks for your amazing support. Congratulations to our July winner, Theresa Brown of Woodstock, Vt. Theresa chose “Silver and Gold,” and had this to say…

“I spent the first eighteen years of my life, as fifth generation Vermonter, enjoying the abundance of wildlife, color, and variety in Vermont’s mountainous horizon via winter, spring, summer and fall sports. It took leaving for an extended period of time to truly appreciate the full offerings of Vermont, having lived on the west coast and the in mid-west for many years. The people here are what makes Vermont stand out.

I also can’t help but love Vermont because of her seasons – from which I have learned lessons of life, death and regrowth – and finding health in this productive cycle of change. It’s that hard, cold winter that makes you cherish every moment of July’s raging heat. The quiet peace found in a white fresh-fallen-snow covered evergreen and the celebration in a brilliant red, purple, orange, green and gold harvest in fall. It’s no wonder people come here from all over the world to see it, how blessed I am to be here playing my part. Thank you for the artwork you make to portray these emotions we share about our enduring and beautiful state of Vermont.”
