Snow Bound Jan 18, 2016
I’m happy to see some snow.
Here in Vermont most of us can find something we like about winter.
At least until March.
I love to hunker down in my studio during a snowstorm.
Temporarily stranded, I’m filled with gratitude and appreciation.
That’s a very good place to paint from.

Oil on panel
One of my favorites.
Mine too…the one I just did is always a favorite. (at least the good ones 🙂
Without the mountains in the background, this could be most any state, including my childhood surroundings in north central Missouri. I love it!
I don’t think I have been to Missouri Martha, must get pretty cold there too.
A picture perfect of a country winter scene! Love it Thank you Peter!
My pleasure, thanks Mary!
Lovely – you’ve captured the season so clearly. Hunkering down is a wonderful way to spend days in Vermont.
The older I get the less it takes to hunker me down Dianne…and I appreciate it all the more.
this is lovely….and I’d like it even more if it were my home pictured in the background of a snow covered hillside. 🙂
Thank you Stefani. I don’t know who’s home this is, I was a long way away with a long camera lens. Chances are they won’t see this painting. I kind of like leaving it a mystery.
Peter, your words are always as beautiful as your paintings. With gratitude and appreciation….
Like my paintings, I just try to keep my words simple and sincere. Thanks so much Marcia!
I love the first snow, after that, not so much.
You and a lot of others David, thanks!
Over the years I have stood many times in a similar winter field. Sometimes my only company was the sound of rattling cornstalks and the wind. Other times a flock of birds, or a patch of snow fleas were with me. A successful painting evokes memories and a sense of spirit. You have succeeded in this beautiful work of art
Again I’m humbled by your comments Brian. Thanks very much!
So very beautiful and peaceful making it look like a place of comfort and solitude. Love it!
Thank you Janet, much appreciated!
I absolutely love all your paintings… If I was able I would have one of each of them
Have a great warm day.
This looks very similar to the view from the cornfield behind my parents’ house…
This is just off Rt 30 between Pawlet and Wells. (?)
Love this nice & cozy Vermont winter scene! Glad VT is finally getting some snow, send some north to the Arctic. Our snow has been minimal for the last two seasons. 🙁
Yes, I will do my best to usher some north Diane. Do you want the wind too?
Very, very nice.
Thank you very much Tony, Happy New Year to you and Jackie!
My favorite subject – winter scenes. I don’t know what the attraction is as I’m not fond of the cold. Better to be in VT than the city, tho! This is one of my favorites of yours, Peter. I am going to order this print once I’m stabilized in my new apt. It will look wonderful against my lavender walls.
Thanks Betsy, I’ll have a print here for you when you are ready!
Peter, this is hauntingly beautiful – strong and serene. I love “Monday Art with Peter!”
Thank you!
I think I summoned the spirit of Andrew Wyeth just a bit on this one…he was certainly a master of raw, stark, nature.
Love this one best of all so far! Moved from snowy Vermont to sunny Florida, and I really miss those beautiful winters and tranquil snow scenes! Thank you!
They can take the girl out of Vermont, but not Vermont out of the girl. Thanks Jean!
We love the way you love Vermont! We made reservations today to visit Vermont in September on Lake Dunmore. We can’t wait. It’s been 4 years since we were up from New York.
Dunmore is not far from my studio, less than an hour. I hope you will come visit me when you are here. I’ll look forward to meeting you!
Nice open land scene…the evidence/pattern of the past season in the field is interesting. Even the sky is “cold”. We got a good cover today, white out @ times. Cindy
The corn rows cresting over the hill really grabbed my attention in this scene. The white snow made the golden stalks pop. Thanks Cindy!
Peter, I just love your work. Love your marks and the simplicity of many of your paintings.
Vermont is one of my favorite places to be, and I really appreciate you sharing so much of the love you feel for your state in your paintings. Thank you
Amazing how many nice, like-minded people I get to connect with through art, Maureen. Thank you!
This looks like a picture of my grandparents house in Craftsbury…so many good memories!
Although this one is not in Craftsbury Suzette, I’ll put that on my list…I love to discover new places and subjects, and make new (good) memories.
