Autumn Farm Oct 19, 2015
The Staples Farm in Windsor sings right on key.
The warm colors of Autumn compliment the rustic tones of the old barn buildings.
Nature has a gentle way of creating rich, beautiful harmonies.
She does it in a way any artist would be proud to approximate.

Wow….this is a real favorite of mine…..I love to study barns and trees.
Thank you Dhyan!
This piece sings in perfect harmony and tells a story left only to our creative imaginations! You capture your subjects in the most delightful way that leave us dreaming of the life it signifies. Happy Monday!
Lots of nice connections and correlations between music, art, nature, and life Muriel. One such commonality is that to appreciate any of them to their fullest, we must remain open and receptive…with our eyes, ears, and of course hearts.
Peter, you continue to be an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents and great insight into Vermont’s beautiful landscape.
Nice to see your smiling face Michelle, so glad we can continue to share this little journey. Hope all is well in Tupper Lake!
Okay, that does it. You have got to make a calendar featuring all your barns. 🙂 Please do it in time for the new year!
Thanks for the great suggestion Joy. If I had three or four of me, I would definitely pursue that project. But since there is just one I will put this on the list of future possibilities. Every day is a fierce battle to keep/find ample time to paint…my top priority. Many good projects, possibilities, and potentials are unfortunate casualties to this approach, but I know in my heart that it’s the right approach for me, for now. Hope you will understand!
Peter, this one really touches a chord with me.
Maryland has many such barns – especially in the old tobacco-growing areas.
I’ve always been fond of them.
Thanks.
Deliberate or not Rob, nice use of the word “Chord” to keep with the music theme. Yes, you gotta love the many authentic old barns that have served generations of farmers well. It’s a shame to watch them gradually disappear.
I love barns and fall together! This beautifully represents rural America and the northeast where I have grown up. Thank you Peter for a beautiful glimpse of rural America!
And a glimpse is all I have a chance at capturing Mary. Some days I just want to “get it all”, but experience tells me I must settle for just a small nugget. I always try to make it a golden one. Thanks!
Thanks to a friend of mine from Vermont I am able to enjoy your work.
Mike from Vero Beach
There’s a little Vermont in all of us Mike. Thanks for joining us!
You nailed it this time! Great subject matter and the composition is excellent. Autumn in Vermont is unbeatable.
Thanks very much for the continued support Don!
I agree with Joy VanderLek – A calendar with all of your barns 🙂
Hopefully some day we can make this happen Annie. Thanks very much!
Another beauty Peter! I love the fact that one can see your energy and clear brush strokes in every painting. Your work is inspiring.
Thank you Gill, much appreciated. Yes, I too like to see evidence of energy and “life” in a painting, often found in the brush strokes. Each artist eventually finds his or her distinctive voice. Once we find and nurture that authentic voice, (it can take a while) it becomes easier to speak (in paint) with conviction and clarity.
What a perfect Autumn print for Vermont! Beautiful!
Thank you Francesca!
Wow! That sort of reminds me of my grandfather’s farm in Berlin, VT! Such fun memories!
Thanks David!
Once born a Vermonter, always have ‘Vermont’ in one’s soul! (Your work stirs the memories of home)!
Thank you Amy!
One of my favorite paintings yet! Just enough repetition of the colors of autumn leaves echoed in the browns of the barn siding. Beautiful!
Repetition with variety…one of my favorite principles of art too, Brian. Can be used liberally like seasoning virtually anywhere to spice things up when you want to kick things up a notch.
Peter, as I look at this print I feel like can just walk into the barn! Once again you show your truly amazing talent.
Thanks so much Chris. I do feel like I am gradually getting better…taking that bit of aptitude I was born with, working hard, and turning it into the mysterious thing we call talent.
Hallo Peter, this ensemble reminds me of german farms. It looks quite familiar. Much better than the photo.Very nice. I’ll post it in my Pinterest Portfolio “Landschaft” (landscape).
Thank you Doris, I have been to Germany a few times and I love the small working farms there too. Many are much older than here in Vermont and still in excellent condition.
