Island Pond Vermont Jul 8, 2019
Creativity and luck are always welcome allies when it comes to art.
They come in handy when finding a good place to paint, especially in the pouring rain. So it was the day I painted Island Pond.
A covered bay at the old train depot offered both a perfect shelter and view of the town.
Thanks to the nice folks at the Community National Bank for letting me set up shop!

Sometimes artists don’t always have to put in what’s there. I think leaving out the yellow stripe would have enhanced the scene.
Funny, that’s my favorite part. An early lesson for most artists is that we must always trust and follow our own personal instincts, come what may.

A rainy day at a pittoresk corner. Nicer than the original I would say. But why the electricity comes from wires high above? Since many years there are no wires anymore in towns and villages in Germany, they are hidden in the earth. Cables like my arm Only lonesome buildings and farms

Stunning! We were just in Island Pond this past Saturday for the “July 4th” parade and it rained (downpoured actually); town looked just like this! (I know because I was caught walking through town when the skies opened up! LOL It’s kind of surreal to see a painting and know exactly the place and the feeling. Just beautiful.

My brother and wife have a home on Main St. In this quaint train depot town. I walk and ride my bike through this scene often. Very Vermont!
