June Peonies Jun 13, 2016
My wife never stood a chance.
Our friend Mary Fran Lloyd came by last week with a beautiful bouquet of peonies for her.
I pounced immediately and they went straight to my studio.
Next day they came along to pose for my demo at Rutland High School. (Rm 111)
Now they are a painting. A gift that can keep on giving.

I dropped another flower painting off at the Vault Gallery in Springfield, Vermont last week.
If you get a chance please stop by to check out “Art and The Garden”.
This show will feature the work of nine artists and runs from June 17 through August 20.

So glad to know you are receiving the email Cynthia, thanks very much!
I’d have enjoyed seeing the demo of your painting of peonies, learning how you captured the depth yet delicacy of the blossoms to perfection. And the Garden Party too is beautiful. First, the colorful garden flowers set the scene, and then the sense of quiet and peace are so well added and reinforced by the more distant house, sky and hills. These being rendered in exquisite and delicate tones and values, so carefully chosen and skillfully applied added much to an already nice painting.
I hope my paintings continue to stand up to your eloquent words Brian. I can take just a little credit for some of the nice attributes you describe. The rest (and the best) are often accidental. I guess leaving things alone is a skill too. 🙂
What a beautiful painting peonies are my favorite flower you certainly did them justice
Thank you Joann!
