As I reviewed the Day in Vermont Auction Archive last week, I noticed something interesting.
All the paintings and “in-process” images could give the casual observer the impression that when it comes to painting, I actually know what I’m doing.
Truth: At least much of the time…I don’t.
And that’s both exhilarating and liberating.
For those of you who paint, or are thinking about starting, let me assure you that each and every painting I do is a giant leap of faith into the unknown.
Starting is the secret. Laugh in the face of fear. Risk it all. Have fun.
Just add love and your best work is the inevitable result.
Another beautiful one to make us feel as if we are there driving along. And you are so humble and encouraging at the same time.
Thanks Muriel. I think it important that other aspiring artists understand that the state of “not knowing” can be a very creative place. That is where discovery occurs, and it’s great when unadulterated joy winds up on the canvas.
This is wonderful.I don’t know whether I like your oils or watercolors better! You have such a practiced eye in your ability to choose the perfect perspective for your paintings. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Dianne, it might take me 20 or so years to decide what I like better. Or, like a good parent, I can love both equally and appreciate each of their unique attributes and qualities.
Thank you for the inspiration. I like to dabble !
My pleasure Kim. Dabbling is good! Just that word alone means you have given yourself permission to have fun. That’s a big step.
Hey, i know this spot/area, it will be clothed in red and black plaid for the next few weeks. i can feel the chill of a grey November day, i love it, nice work Pete
Thanks Larry, and I know you know what a November chill feels like. Best of luck to you this year!
Beautiful art work and beautiful words too!
