Last Minute Shop Nov 19, 2018
A recent rainy evening in Woodstock inspired this painting. The glowing light from Yankee Bookshop beckoned and bounced across the saturated street.
I don’t go out of my way to wait until the last minute, but we all find ourselves there now and then.
Like this painting for example, finished this morning. Interesting how the work gets done.

And the Winners Are…
As you may know, each month I draw two random Day in Vermont email subscribers to win a free print of their choice.
And there are lots of choices: Print Gallery
Our first winner for November is Lorraine Loftus of Castle Rock, Colorado. Lorraine chose “Autumn Arrival” and had this to say…
First and foremost, thank you for randomly selecting me for an unframed print in the month of November. Although my residence is on the outskirts of Denver, Co, my roots are deeply embedded in the rural central New York State region. I have browsed through all your beautiful masterpieces and the one I just adore is titled “Autumn Arrival”. This picture depicts the essence of the “Simple Life” which speaks volumes to me. I love Vermont for its pristine landscapes and stunning sunsets witnessed along the shores of Lake Champlain. The most impressive thing to me about Vermont is the people who care so deeply for the environment and have passed that down from generation to generation. I am deeply honored to accept this print entitled “Autumn Arrival”. Again, thank you for your kindness!!
Our second winner is Kelsey McKay, of Hoboken, NJ. Kelsey chose “Killington“, and had this to say…
This is awesome! Thank you so much! I absolutely accept one of your incredible prints. My print of choice is “Killington”. To me, Vermont means home and family. Even though I have moved away, I will always be so thankful for the opportunity to grow up in Vermont. There’s no place like it. I was able to run freely through the woods with my friends, imagining wonderful worlds, every day was a new adventure. Having lived in a city environment for the past few months, I have really come to appreciate the slower pace of VT, and the quiet of the forest, whether hiking or skiing. I am so excited to be able to hang a beautiful print of VT on my wall to remind me home. Thank you again!
I love this view of my hometown. It’s funny that I just saved a photograph of this same view last week. The colors are great. Thank you for all your wonderful work.
Thanks Gretchen!
At first glance, I made an assumption, that was Fair Haven, VT seemed to have the same architectural style, but then that would be most New England towns.
Thank you for another beautiful work of art. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Thanks Irene!
When I first saw this painting I knew exactly where it was. My dearly departed husband attended Woodstock High School, and although we raised our children in eastern Long Island we were in Woodstock every chance we could get. I only get there twice a year now but I will never forget the memories. Thank you for sharing this wonderful painting.
Thanks Gayle!
Happy Thanksgiving Peter.
Thanks Brian!

Even a rainy day can be sunny if there is warmth and the light of joy within one’s heart. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Peter. PS: On a really dreary day getting lost in a good book can help too.
Thanks Brian! I’m going to try to make time for more reading in 2019, ie classic novels. (aside from my usual art books)
