North East Road Farm Jun 17, 2013
A classic rural farm heading south on the North East Road in neighboring Tinmouth.
I really appreciate your painting suggestions. I get quite a few and every one goes on “the list.” It’s a wonderful source of possibilities.
Thanks to local Day in Vermont subscriber Jim Webber for suggesting this bucolic view.

I look for a subject very carefully… a great panoramic landscape… geometry… a perspective that fascinates me, the color, a certain set of things… All the components are there. I think, I can make something out of this.

Peter – I love your added creativity. I continue to learn from you and thank you daily for your inspiration!
Thanks Michelle, that makes two of us then. (continuing to learn) Every painting is an opportunity to learn if the artist pushes the boundaries of what he/she “knows.” The best paintings (I find) are the ones that start with a magical amalgam of curiosity, fear, uncertainty, audacity, and enthusiasm.
This is the Vermont I remember!
great composition..i’m intrigued by your style..how about a workshop at landrove?
Thanks very much Doris. I am open to discussing a possible workshop in 2014. Just give me a call.
Glad I could send a good Vermont memory out your way Brian!
This is one of my very favorites! Having grown up in Rutland, this scene is very familiar. Thanks!!
Thanks for the comment Andee!
I like it. It’s a little different than your normal style but still very nice. You’ve been a busy man ole buddy!
Thanks Doug, I have been using more gouache this past year or two as I explore the element of opacity vs. transparency in my watermedia work. It has a little different visual quality than transparent watercolor alone. I experiment constantly and always have…pushing myself into new territory. I think this is where “style” originates and continuously refines. Like everyone, over the course of many experiments, risks, failures, and success, an artist gradually discovers his/her own unique voice. We become ourselves.
Very pleasant subject matter and execution. You have the ability to bring Vermont to life in a spectacular, magical way, better than reality! Thanks for sharing the process!
Thank you very much for your kind words Karen!
