One More Cast Jul 25, 2016
Evening falls on Lake Champlain against the backdrop of Mount Mansfield and Camel’s Hump.
A lone boat lingers long enough for one more cast.
There’s an eternal optimist inside every fisherman.

I love this and so makes me miss Lake Champlain and that whole valley !!
It would be easy to miss Dhyan, thanks!
Your painting are beautiful!! I love Lake Champlain and with the mountains in the background. just beautiful!!
I can’t afford to buy them because I have no income. and retired. I use to live in VT and sail Lake Champlain. Now I’m retired in Florida to be a grandma. I have an 8 year old granddaughter and my son lives hear also. I’m enjoying your post and paintings!! Keep up the great work. Thanks, Sue
No worries, I’m very grateful to supporters of all stripes, thank you Sue!
Beautiful!!
Thanks Jane!
Love it!
Thanks Susan!
The sky is beautiful! My husband is a surf fisherman , and I know that phrase, “One more cast!”
I used the phrase a few times myself back in the day when I used to fish. Now, I only have time to paint. (that’s by choice of course) Thanks Deanie!
I love how you added a bit more intimacy to the scene by pulling the distant shore a bit nearer. The twinkle of lights going on in lakeside cottages brings powerful memories of other times on other lakes, smaller but every bit as beautiful. I can hear the splash and gurgle of fish feeding as darkness falls, and in the shallows an American toad trills amongst the base notes of a bullfrog chorus.
I do enjoy recognizing, exploring, and portraying the relationships between man/nature in my work, and the intimate warm camp lights made a nice counterpoint to the vast cool natural environment. Thank you Brian! When are you going to visit?
Peter, this painting is so peaceful and I love how you captured the time of day. Just beautiful!
You could almost hear a pin drop that evening. Complete (and quite rare these days) stillness. Thanks Cathy!
Ah!, We’re coming up in September but will be staying on Lake Dunmore. I can’t wait to be fishing with my fly rod til dark, too!
Ah, Lake Dunmore, I might have to pay a visit there too before the summer is over. Have fun and catch a lot of fish!
Sky lights, mountains/hills, lake, a favorite pastime….all beautifully captured with your skills. Enjoying all of it…Cynthia
Thanks very much Cynthia!
Love the picture, particularly the way you were able to “light” the fisherman in the twilight setting. Perfect way for my nephew to appreciate fine art and his favorite hobby. Really nice in every respect.
I was very happy with this one too Michael. (you don’t get to see the one’s I’m not happy with 🙂 Thanks very much for your continued support!
The eternal optimist. Yesterday I saw a young fisherman holding his fishing rod and staring without any move into the water of the small river Kinzig that runs through Steinau an der Straße. It was quite the same hour and of course one more cast. This could have been a scene for you too. 🙂
I can see it in my minds eye Doris. Is that fresh bread and a smokehouse in the village I smell?
Indeed, Peter. Get the fishes and put them
in the smokehouse. And then don’t forget the fresh bread. Sit down and enjoy all.
Oh yes, and coffee too!
Fine!
This looks exactly like the view looking East from the East Shore of North Hero at my husband’s family camp!
That’s exactly where I was Susan!
My favorite view in all of Vermont!
