Orange Poppies Jun 23, 2014
An artist is always on the look-out for good things to paint.
Many miles have been logged in search of the perfect subject.
It’s rather profound when we realize they’re in our own back yard.
Or a friends.
I found these brilliant poppies just down the road at Rising Meadow Pottery.

John Ruskin said that “Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together.”
Surely he meant woman too.
It’s pretty easy to see when something is made with consummate skill, unique artistic vision, and love.
And it’s not only easy to see…we can feel it.
Rising Meadow Pottery was established in 1998 by Nicholas Seidner and Diane Rosenmiller. Located in Middletown Springs, Vermont, the pottery is complete with studios, kilns, teaching facility and gallery. Influenced by historical pottery, the diverse region and natural environment, and the pottery’s garden, the work, form and function, calls for everyday use and enjoyment.
Just beautiful, Peter!
Thanks very much Arlene!
What a STUNNING piece…the orange (almost vermillion) poppies are a fabulous contrast against the deeper background. They just draw you in!
Thanks Victoria, yes that orange got my attention. I have not seen too many other things in nature quite THAT brilliant.
