Pure Vermont Nov 21, 2012

The vibrant red hues of the Maple trees in fall and the beautiful Sugar House setting inspired this painting. Most sugar houses are at rest during the year, and spring to life in a burst of activity as the sap begins to rise. Maple season typically lasts from four to six weeks. Sometimes starting in February in Southern Vermont, and lasting into April in northern Vermont. Legend has it, an observant Native American child watched a squirrel as it tasted the sweetness from the bark of a Maple tree – the rest is Pure Vermont!
