Quiet Lake Nov 11, 2013

Only the urgent calls of Canadian geese break the silence across the water of Lake Bomoseen.

Alone on Crystal Beach Saturday morning, I savored the quiet beauty along the eastern shoreline.

The Lake House and distant Prospect Point rest easy against the grey November sky.

Most of the camps are closed and the docks are up. A single sail boat remains.

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer’s out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I’m driving by your house
Though I know you’re not home

The Lake in November takes on a quiet beauty before the ice houses dot the frozen lake. This is lovely, Peter, and quite a change from the bustle of the swimmers, boaters and diners at the Lakehouse.

What a tranquil view of the lake at this time of year. The colors are quite different from “The Lakehouse” which I have hanging in my kitchen where I can see it everyday. Enjoy this beautiful fall!

I think color (especially) is one element that can be used to effectively create mood. I’m thankful to live where we can experience a full range of color and moods throughout the year. Thanks Karen!

I thought this was “The Lakehouse” and the previous comments confirmed it for me. I had dinner there the last time I was in Vermont in 2010. You did an amazing job as usual. Thanks for keeping my Vermont connection alive.

You did it again. As a teen, I used to swim in the area depicted in the foreground. We stayed in a camp across the road on the right just before reaching Crystal Beach. Many, many great memories evoked by your artistry!
