Your wonderful painting brought back pleasant memories of my high school in Des Moines, Iowa. It has been completely updated, but it still looks the same outside and much of inside.
Oh my GOODNESS! You’re bringing back memories….I went to MSJ, but I think they gave it a bit of a facelift by the time I got there. You choose such fascinating subjects. IMAGE is SO POWERFUL! Great work, Peter!
Thanks Victoria, I agree…images do have the power to evoke personal memories and emotion. I try to honor and respect that fact every time I paint by giving it my very best.
Greetings from The Columbia River Gorge.
Peter your beautiful and vivid painting evokes one of my fondest and formative childhood Ski memories.
At that time my neighbor, Jim Romano (Romano Brothers Trucking) was an avid and expert local Snow and Water skier. I consider him to be one of my earliest of many Ski Patrons who helped me to make Skiing into a personal “Way of Life” and career.
In or about the Winter of 1959, as a birthday treat Jim took me to dinner Seward’s Dairy Bar and then to Rutland High School where Warren Miller did live narration of his own renown annual Ski Film.
Jim’s and others’ generous gestures have had a significant impact on my life.
Peter your Art continues to make me feel and appreciate our beautiful Vermont and it’s rich history here in The Gorge.
Thanks again
Thanks so much for sharing a personal Vermont story of gratitude and appreciation David! Now that you mention it, Sewards is another Rutland Icon. All the best from Vermont!
Thanks for your beautiful rendition of the “old Rutland High School”. As a 1955 graduate of M.S.J., I hope you’ll follow through on your idea to paint M.S.J.. Maybe you could limit it to just the “old Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy”. That would surely evoke many precious memories for many of us “old Mounties”!
You continue to touch the hearts of so many by reviving memories of youthful days and scenes that make us glad we are alive to enjoy them. You are a blessing to all who view your work!! Thanks for painting for our eyes to feast on the places in the beautiful state in which we live.
There is a corner of our heart that never changes, the best part. Only the exterior paint gets a little dinged along the way, and I like to call that “patina”
That me in the green corduroy stadium coat with my books under my arm! I believe the photo was shot in December, 1960. I was a senior and thought I was a big shot.
I know that building! Neat picture. Brought back memories. thanks.
Thanks David!
Creative idea and composition Peter! I’m sure someone connected with the school will snatch this one up!
Thanks Lori, connection is a good thing!

Thank you Kathi!
I graduated from RHS in 1969. This painting brings back many memories….thank you.
Funny, I can’t remember what I had for dinner yesterday, but high school memories are still vivid. Thanks Patricia

Thanks Don, I don’t think I could get away with painting RHS and not MSJ!
The memories that echo those halls!
Indeed, thanks Mary!

How cool is that!? You still are a big shot Bob, thanks for checking in!
Oh, wow, Peter! You know you have to balance your act and paint MSJ now! This one is beautiful, even in the eyes of this Mountie.
You are right Helen, can’t have one without the other!
