The Boat Launch Jul 15, 2019
It’s an exhilarating experience that’s hard to describe.
The moment you push off from the stable shoreline and glide out on to the freedom of open water.
Always a bit tipsy at first, you quickly adapt to a new mode of transport.
I painted this Big Averill Lake scene while staying at my favorite wilderness retreat, Quimby Country, in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

I really love this one and as usual I want to go around the bend .. this is the best !!!!
Thanks Lenor!
A magical spot and you captured it perfectly.
Thanks Lilly, and for getting me there!
Beautiful as always. Thanks for making my Monday mornings. I look forward to them
Thanks Karen!
Hi Peter,
I am fairly new to your website and a beginner painter. I am constantly amazed at your technique and how you infuse color and zest into your paintings. And this one is a perfect example. Great inspiration for me. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks Jeanne, happy painting!
I wanna hoist my canoe on my shoulders and put in at that rock ledge. It would be a great day for a paddle under those whispy clouds and blue sky. I’m doing it in my mind, thank you Peter. Great way to start a Monday.
Thanks Beth Ann!
OH! LOVE THIS……REMINDS ME OF WHEN I WAS A KID, WHEN YOU PUSHED OFF OUT INTO THE LAKE AND A WHOLE MAGICAL WORLD!
Thanks Joann!
Your retreat and the boat launch is so restful… thank you for continuing to paint Vermont…
Thanks Deanie!
Perhaps I can sit on the edge of the dock and dangle my feet while I look around …….
Good idea Connie!
Fabulous! I’m writing this from the shoreline in South Hero and it’s perfect! We are happy campers for the next two weeks…and lucky to have this same type of view from our cabin, your representation is superb!
Thank you, enjoy the Vermont summer Beth!
About 10 years ago I stayed for a week at a camp on Big Averill Lake. One night I had dinner at a lodge in Quimby Country. It was an enchanting week – the call of the loons at dusk was magical.
Thanks John, those loons are still there!
What a beautiful summer scenery. A lake with its flittering white, light blue and sparkles of violett, in contrast with yellow brown and green in the foreground and dark blue green, soft light violett mountains in the background. White summer clouds slowly drifting in a blue sky. Summer delights at its best.
Indeed, thank you Doris!
I like very much the photo of your palette & set up along lake shore!
Thank you Robert!
