Downtown Waterbury Aug 29, 2022
Painting Waterbury has been on my to-do list for a while. Done!
Like most I suppose, I do have several things on the list that never seem to get done. One of them is updating my “Artist’s Statement“.
Expressing my personal methods and motivations regarding art in words is a challenge. As Edward Hopper said; “If I could say it with words there would be no reason to paint.”
While my statement remains in perpetual edit, I’ll share an articulate, concise favorite from Hans Hofmann:
“My aim in painting is to create pulsating, luminous, and open surfaces that emanate a mystic light, in accordance with my deepest insight into the experience of life and nature.”
Original sold. Next painting post Monday, Sept 12.

Another beautiful painting to appreciate! My sister, brother in law and I visited your studio a little over a week ago while spending some time vacationing on Lake St. Catherine. We visited several places but I must say that the visit to your studio was the highlight of my vacation !! I was in awe as I saw your painting process, including your pencil sketches and all the positive quotes that you have posted around your studio. You are a treasure to all!
Thank you very much Ginny, it was a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for your visit!
Are your greeting cards sold anywhere locally? The charges for shipping add 40% to the cost of the cards and that is hard to swallow! I do love the painting and immediately thought of the cards as a Christmas gift but the shipping charges are making it hard to justify.
Yes Deidre, you are welcome to visit my studio to save $9.95 shipping (actual cost) and pick up. Please just send me a note at peter@peterhuntoon.com to let me know what you would like and when you want to come.
