Okemo Mountain Apr 6, 2026

Welcome back to A Day in Vermont!

As you may know I took my annual winter break from posting to catch up on all manner of responsibility that gets pushed aside when I rather be outside painting. Some of it got done. I also spent a significant amount of time on “research and development”. This for me is essentially play-time pushing paint around. It may be play, but it’s earnest, honest and intentional. The kind we learn the most from as children. Play is the portal through which most of my creative inspiration arrives.

As the weather now breaks I’m eager to resume our artistic adventure together. We’ll have an “every other Monday” Day in Vermont schedule for the rest of the year.

There were a couple of warm winter days when everything lined up and I was able to get out and paint. Okemo Mountain began on location last month. I set up my easel in the parking lot with the warm sun on my face and settled into the zone for about three hours. I came home with a great start and a nice tan. I painted a similar scene many years ago in watercolor from a photo but wanted to revisit in person, this time using oil.

Thank you for your continued interest in my work and all your support for A Day in Vermont. I couldn’t do it without you!

Warmest regards,

Peter

Great painting! My wife and I have friends who own a home in East Wallingford. We’ve had a lot of good times at Okemo over the years. Glad you included the Loft. That place is the best!
