Lamoille River Aug 24, 2020
I headed north last week for my first overnight painting trip in months.
It didn’t take long to be reminded just how much beauty there is to explore.
So many possibilities, so little time.
Painting between intermittent showers, I managed to return home with three solid starts.
Here, the summer evening light dances down the Lamoille River in Hardwick.

Beautiful as always. I always look forward to Monday Morning
I totally agree. So beautiful. Makes Monday’s more enjoyable.
Beautiful
Perfect colors for my house! I can think of several places where it would look outstanding!
I went to Johnson State College earning my BS and stayed on to complete my MA. I loved the Lamoille River and visit once a year. These are the best memories of my life. You have captured my heart with this painting.
Lovely.
In the summer of 1970 my husband and I rented an apartment in Ye Ole Dancehall on Shadow Lake. Hardwick was a “neighbor” to Glover. My husband was employed by his family’s construction company, S.V. Rossi Const.in building the interstate. As I remember it would be pret near impossible to choose just ONE scenic spot to print but she sure did capture a good one. Thank you so much Peter for my Monday Vermont fix.
Pleasant was the first word that came to my mind. We lost 60 trees in a Straight Line Storm last week in Iowa (as well as crops and buildings) This is the first time I’ve looked at a tree with a smile for a while !
COVID 19 prevents us from visited Vermont on our annual 2 week FALL VACATION for the first time in 56 years, your paintings truly capture the essence of Vermont. This year we will be satisfied observing all your paintings which depict this wonderful state. Maybe someday we will seen a collection of your works for sale…… “ VERMONT PAINTED” as seen by artist “ PETER HUNTOON”…… and that would make a great addition to anyone’s collection !
Lovely painting, Peter. Moody but not sad…
I grew up in Hardwick and have walked by that spot innumerable times. Beautiful painting.
Mondays always seem better when I get your email with your weekly painting. It gets my week off to a good start!!
Love the “realism” that the mind makes of your wonderfully impressionistic rocky river banks. I spent many happy boyhood hours fishing in Greenwood Lake near Hardwick. Lots of sunfish to keep a child entertained!
Serene beauty
I so look forward to viewing and enjoying your painting each week. It’s always an additional pleasure to notice when photos of the scene are provided as well. Each of your paintings makes me want find the location and visit in person.
Thank you all for the comments! Peter
