On the Green Jun 16, 2014

The weather was perfect for the 39th annual Strawberry Festival in Middletown Springs yesterday.

And so was the strawberry shortcake I devoured to power me through this painting.

I found a shady spot to capture a glorious day on the green.

In Vermont we make the very best of our short summers.

And like a deliciously sweet dessert, we savor every moment.

Vermont Maple Sriracha

If you are a fan of good hot sauces like I am, let me introduce you to Vermont Maple Sriracha.

Not because I painted the new label.

Not because I got to be on the taste testing team.

Not because my friend Jackson is involved, and everything he does is top-notch.

And not just because Big Lenny is a great cook and a really nice guy.

It’s because this stuff is obviously made with love and it’s lip-smackingly-addictive.

Love this. I saw you painting wish I had the time to stop. I would love a print of this. Where I grew up and got married.

It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday at the strawberry festival. It is so nice to put a face with a name. Your paintings are beautiful and have introduced me to many places in VT that I may not otherwise have the opportunity to explore.

Sounds like the fresh Strawberry Shortcake was a hit with you! We have to have Strawberry Shortcake whenever we go up to see Dad. I love tha picture. What a great picture of a typical country church. So serene and beautiful.

Thanks for telling us about the Sriracha. I’ve been looking for a healthier version than the usual. I’ve just ordered two bottles of the Vermont Maple. Can’t wait to try it. Always nice to be able to support businesses from my home town!

  • You captured that perfect day…I love the strawberry festival and am sad I missed it this year! I will get some Sriracha for my husband (not because you designed the label, or were on the tasting team, or your friend made it) because he is constantly on the search for the perfect hotsauce!

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks Christine, and I am one of those people too…always on the look-out for the perfect sauce. This one comes awfully close!

Isn’t Middletown Springs the perfect niche in Vermont!? And I wanted to let you know I was so inspired by your Irises of last week ‘ that I got out my canvas and painted a little field of white daisies. Thanks for inspiring me so!

    • Peter Huntoon says:

So happy you mustered the inspiration to get out the brush Muriel!!! I think I will write a little post on inspiration for next time. Thanks!
