Blackbird & Cattails Jun 24, 2013

A recent visit to the West Rutland marsh with my camera yielded some good shots of the resident Red-winged Blackbirds.

I love the way they perch on a tall reed or cattail to sway in the breeze and sing their distinctive song.

I’m pretty sure this male was telling me (and the rest of the marsh) just how handsome he was.

The greatest cathedral of all is nature itself. It simultaneously humbles and pulls up giant emotions that cannot be fully expressed in mere words.

Thank you Rosemary. This guy is a sure sign of warmer weather. Their sound especially, along with the buzz of crickets and other assorted critters, are ingrained in my lazy hazy summertime memories.
