Bomoseen Boat Launch Sep 2, 2024

When it came to naming this one, there were options.

I started this painting on location at the “Kehoe Access Area” one evening last week, and finished it in the studio yesterday.

This popular location along the western edge of Lake Bomoseen is also affectionately and historically known as the “Green Dump”, with large slabs of Vermont slate rimming the shoreline. I remember fishing here 50 years ago.

A third contender was “Lady of the Lake”,  a name I’ve heard given to describe the most distant mountain range to the south.

In the end I went with a simple answer to the ever popular question; “Where is that?”.

Upcoming Event: You are invited to the third annual  Septemberfest next Saturday, Sept 7 from 10-3 on Main street in Poultney, Vermont. Starting with a blank canvas I’ll be doing a live painting demonstration throughout the day. Along the way I’ll share my philosophy, techniques, and personal process. Stop by for a peek or bring a lawn chair and stay for a long as you like.

Original Sold. Next Day in Vermont Monday, Sept 16.

Oh how I wish I found this sooner. Lake Bomoseen and Lake Hortonia are my two special places where I learned to fish with my grandfather and waterski with my uncle and cousins. You did a beautiful job capsuring the essence of that area. I’m so thankful for your works – as they give me a sense of peace that I only find when I’m in Vermont.
