Colton Pond Nov 24, 2025

Today’s painting depicts Colton Pond, just off Rt. 100 in Killington.

Mapquest has a very nice description: “Colton Pond is a serene natural oasis located in Killington, Vermont. Surrounded by lush greenery and stunning mountain views, this park offers visitors a peaceful retreat for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and picnicking. With its tranquil waters and picturesque landscape, Colton Pond is the perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature.”

I found all that to be true on a recent visit, setting up a few feet from the water for this late-autumn shoreline view.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I never knew its name until today. Colton Pond. How right you are it is a “serene oasis” that I passed daily one fall driving to my teaching job in Woodstock. It was a familiar feeling seeing your artistry and knowing I’d been there before I read the caption. Thank you for renewing my old memories of one of the most peasant drives EVAH!
