Downtown Brandon Apr 29, 2024

Welcome back to A Day in Vermont!

I hope this note finds you well and wherever you are, enjoying Spring. Today’s new painting “Downtown Brandon” began on location a couple of weeks ago. The whole town looks fantastic and it’s been on my list since all the work and repairs were done. Also on my list was to try a pizza at the new Morningside Bakery. I ordered a pie two hours ahead and went right to work outside on the sidewalk. Incredibly, my block-in (the critical start of a painting where a solid foundation is established) was completed at the exact moment the pizza was ready. Timing is everything. The painting was completed after a couple of sessions back in the studio, and the pizza was excellent. 🙂

Welcome back! Spring has sprung and nature is supplying plenty of eye candy. Love the colors and shading. Never had the pleasure of visiting Brandon, but through your painting it appears to be a quaint little town. Thank you for sharing your painting. Enjoy a wonderful week!

Was helping my sister do some work at her summer house yesterday and my eye was drawn to a beautiful picture hung in one of the bedrooms. I walked over to see it closer and saw your name in the corner. I remarked “I follow Peter’s posts on Mondays, I love his artwork”. She said “Yes, you gave me that picture several years ago…”. I had completely forgotten, but happy to say it still drew me in to take a closer look.

Welcome back. Was it raining in Brandon? The painting looks as if it is. Did you visit the art gallery that’s there? If I’m not mistaken some of your work is on display. We have a friend in Brandon that has some of her work shown there, Peggy Racine.

You are awesome! I am lucky enough to say I grew up there and my family can be traced back to 1774. Brandon is my favorite place in the world. I have the one of the Brandon inn looking at gazebo and park it’s just before the tear up of park. (Yours as well) it’s my favorite as well. I really love your paintings like I look through them and makes me think of home! You should do the water fall in brandon, backside of the cafe province but standing facing the falls!

    Just seeing this.

Nice painting of my former hometown!

I’m writing a history of the building to the left, now Blue Moon Gifts, formerly LaDuke’s. Built in 1888. Survivor of floods and fires.
