Fall on White River Oct 3, 2016

Driving along Rt 100 in Hancock last week I noticed this scene out of the corner of my eye.

While our default gear tends to be DRIVE, I’ve found it’s often worth the trouble to REVERSE just a bit when possibilities suddenly appear.

A Maine Event

Acadia National Park in Maine had been on our bucket list for a while.

We managed to get away for a few days in September and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

I started four pieces on location (plein air) and finished them up in the studio last week.

Enjoy!

Thanks Gary! For this view, I parked in the Vermont Plywood driveway and walked a few yards south on 100, then crossed the road. I’m sure you know it!

Bright colors and rhythmic diagonal lines of composition throughout the painting of Fall on the White River make me feel like dancing! Glad you enhanced the colors a bit. You must be eager for “peak color”. Beautiful paintings in Maine too. Especially like the atmospheric color in the painting Acadia Maine.

    • Peter Huntoon says:

Thanks Brian, and it was exactly those dramatic diagonals that caught my eye in the first place. I have heard of my work making people smile, but dancing is a new (and good) one!

I opened to the Fall On White River admiring the beautiful coloring you chose…..then as I scrolled my jaw dropped! We have travelled to Acadia many yrs but this summer was one we had to skip so I am extremely glad to see each familiar place you precisely captured. We enjoy the whole island , but especially Schoodic Peninsula . Thank you for a nice surprise… Cynthia

    • Peter Huntoon says:

The natural beauty of Acadia was jaw dropping for me too Cynthia. I hope I can go back some day. I heard the Schoodic area is fantastic, so maybe there next time.

  • I love your paintings….Would almost give my eye teeth to visit Vermont again.
