Glen Lake Afternoon Jun 2, 2025

This painting began on location at Glen Lake recently, towards the southern end at Moscow Road. Along with the initial painting I took several reference photos, including the opportune boat and fishermen passing by trolling for trout. Back in the studio, I “re-thought” the entire composition and started a brand new canvas. Along with the boat, I decided to feature the wonderful natural stone foreground leading to the lake. We are in Stone Valley, after all. When I get a compelling urge to change course on a painting, or even start over, I never hesitate. Like Yogi Berra said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

Original Sold. Next Day in Vermont Monday, June 16.
