Lake Willoughby Oct 4, 2021

A classic view of Lake Willoughby, from the southern shore.

My painting trip to the Northeast Kingdom was fun and productive. The scattered showers all week required some occasional agility, but I returned home with seven solid starts.

One of the more poetic qualities of Autumn is its fleeting nature. So much to appreciate, so little time. As my truck gradually filled with wet paintings I understood the purposeful urgency of the squirrel, as he  gathers his acorns for winter.

And The Winners Are…

As you may know, each month I draw two random A Day in Vermont email subscribers to win a free print of their choice. It’s one way I can show my appreciation for your continued support.

Our first winner for September is Kathleen Foley of Castleton, VT. Kathleen chose “Lake Bomoseen” and had this to say…

“I was thrilled to be selected to receive a print of yours from A Day in Vermont! I have admired your work for years, and respect you as a person. It was difficult to choose, however I have selected Lake Bomoseen! As a lifelong Vermonter, I appreciate its beauty and you capture it so well. I feel grateful to live just up the road from the site of Lake Bomoseen, and look forward to hanging it in my home!”

Our second winner is Jerri Ricard of Creswell…

“Hello Peter, Thank you for choosing me! I choose “Cape Cod Light“. I have always loved going to Cape Cod. I will be thrilled to showcase this print in my home.”

Lake Willoughby has the coldest darn water I’ve EVAH swam in even on the hottest August day. But it sure is pretty; you’ve captured it Peter.
