Saxtons River Jun 26, 2023

Painting in beautiful downtown Saxtons River I set up for a good view of the Village Market, historical Inn, and the classic white steeple church at the end of Main St. When painting on location I can get pretty excited about things. Keeping my artistic exuberance in check until I get the overall design mapped out is usually a good plan. In a complex subject like this it takes some time to get the shapes, perspective and overall composition just so. This is the important, deliberate, reasoned, cool and considered work of the left brain. With a strong foundation established the right brain can take over, go wild and have some fun. That pendulum swings back and forth as the painting proceeds and somewhere in between, magic happens.

This is just lovely. I had my wedding reception at the Inn in 1977, and your painting brings back fond memories of growing up in Cambridgeport and spending so much time in SR. Thanks for posting this!

my niece and her husband with two small children, but the Saxons river in and my brother is helping them totally renovated and they are getting to open it up with a restaurant and rooms. The renovations are so beautiful in the downstairs. I’m looking at your prints and thinking about what a beautiful gift that would be for them. Thanks for your work.
