Peony Bouquet Jun 14, 2021

There’s a lot to love living in a small town. Anything can happen and usually does when it comes to being neighborly and nice.

I was immediately smitten with a sumptuous bouquet of Peonies sitting on the counter of the post office last week. Five minutes later I absconded out the door, gently cradling the flowers like a new dad. Thank you Postmaster Kathy Huntington and Cynthia Craig for another beautiful subject!

Peter, I love all of your landscapes. But, there is something special about your flowers. I have a beautiful copy of your GARDEN ECHINACEA in my dining room for many years. It is so lovely

I’ve noticed your work on line for a few years. Wonderful!! Lots of subjects. The farms and woods with roads running thru remind me of MN farms. ❤️

I was just visiting my family Vermont after the passing of my Dad. Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers but next to that is peonies…they were just popping when I was there and I just am blown away at their beauty. You captured it beautifully…..

STUNNING portrait of peonies! This one will HAVE to make its way to my home.
I LOVE this! Your work continues to hold such a special place in my heart and in our home.
    Thank you, Peter.

Oh I love peonies! But then are there any flowers I don’t like??? This group seems to remind my of my Grandmother for some reason. I remember she loved roses and had many but she must have also had peonies….. Old, old, wonderful memories!

The color of the peonies is delicate and beautiful, while the bold brush strokes and wonderful abstraction are an artistic delight!. Also, we can’t help admiring even the vase itself, which is perfected as much by what you did not paint, as by what you did, the real secret to painting glass.

I have watched two of your shows on PBS and love your work. Do you paint in acrylic as well as oil and watercolor? I was trying to figure out your approach. I began a painting in oil several years ago and recently l got it out again. My old paints that I used recently don’t seem to dry well. Still tacky to the touch. I bought new tubes of oil paint and want to continue. I know a Bob Huntoon, a local artist in Bellows Falls when he was a student at Windham College in the 1970s. I wonder if you are related? I am a retired librarian and began the library at Landmark College. I live in Westminster. I would appreciate your input.
    Best wishes from your fan,
    Robert
